Psychosocial risk assessment
Assess psychosocial risk properly, with an expert behind it
Psychosocial hazards are the parts of work that can harm people's mental health, such as heavy workloads, poor support or bullying. Managing them is now the law: in Queensland the duty sits under the WHS Act 2011 (Qld) and the Managing the risk of psychosocial hazards at work Code of Practice 2022. Most safety systems still only cover physical hazards. This guided assessment helps you find them, rate them and plan what to do, using the method Lucy Gordon built over 15 years. You finish with a risk register, an action plan and a report you can share.

What you come away with
Guidance at every step
You do not need to be a safety specialist. The tool takes you through finding hazards, rating them and planning what to do, so you never start from a blank page.
A report you can show anyone
You get a risk register, a prioritised action plan and a professional report. You can put them in front of your board, your insurer or a regulator.
A method built over 15 years
It follows the approach Lucy Gordon developed over 15 years as a health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) practitioner. It builds on the national People at Work approach and lines up with the relevant Codes of Practice.
How it works
-
Before you start
Plan for a few hours over several sittings. Your progress saves as you go, so you can stop and come back in the same browser.
-
Check your records
Look at your absence, staff turnover, incident, EAP and survey records to see where risk may be building.
-
Observe the workplace
Look at hiring, how teams get on, how conflict is handled and whether people know what their job is.
-
Pick your hazards
Choose which of 14 common psychosocial hazards apply to your business. Each one comes with a plain description.
-
Rate the risk
Rate how likely each hazard is to cause harm and how serious that harm could be. A 5 by 5 matrix turns the two into a risk level.
-
Plan controls
Write down the controls you will add (the things you will do to reduce the risk), who owns each one and when it is due.
-
What works well
Note what is already working well in the business, so the things worth protecting are on the record.
-
Check your controls
Check that your controls are in place and doing the job, and that they have not created new hazards.
-
Your report
Your risk register, action plan and report, ready for your board, your insurer or a regulator.

Frequently asked
Common questions
Can this replace the People at Work survey?
It covers a different step. If you have used the People at Work survey, that measures how your workers rate hazards. This tool records your own evidence, rates each hazard and plans controls with owners and dates, which is the documented assessment the Code expects.
Is there a subscription?
Not for year one. You pay once: $499 AUD, or $699 AUD with Lucy reviewing your plan and a closing call. From year two, Keep it current is optional at $249 a year. If you skip it, you keep your report.
What do I get at the end?
A psychosocial risk register, a prioritised action plan with an owner and a due date for each control, and a professional report you can put in front of your board, your insurer or a regulator.
